The exhibition "Do we have to go through there?" is dedicated to the Aargau artist Roman Sonderegger (*1979), whose works are usually developed site-specifically and in dialogue with existing exhibition spaces. Sonderegger is able to visually express spatially impressive and complex experiences by means of simple building materials. The physical forces and conditions play just as decisive a role as the materiality of the works themselves. He often explores contrasts such as heavy and light, large and small, and in this way creates astonishing perceptions that play with relationships of force and size. In the exhibition, Sonderegger's conceptual installations meet Erwin Rehmann's timeless sculptures. Through his use of building materials that are distant from art and in part ephemeral, Sonderegger consciously questions our self-image of the permanence of art.
