Town Museum
A chronological tour shows the history of Weilburg from its first mention as Wilineburch in 906 by Konrad the Elder until today. Here you will meet the Weilburg testament from 918 as well as Konrad, the first German king, the grand duchy Nassau and the first president of the Frankfurt national assembly in 1848,
Heinrich von Gagern.
The historical, architectural and political development of the town under the Nassau-Weilburgian sovereigns describes the current shape of the town and the significance of the former residency. You can also find out about special features of Weilburg such as the historical water conduit from 1706 and the three adjacent tunnels for ship, rail and road, as well as encounters with early airships. An exhibiting library with treasures from the 18th and 19th centuries forms a special part of the museum.
Mining Museum and Mine Replica
Guests and visitors of the baroque residency Weilburg enter historically significant ground and are at the same time above rich deposits of ore. Weilburg was an important centre for ore mining in the Lahn-Dill area until the beginning of the 50s. From here administration was carried out and mining regulations were monitored. From 1972 onwards, after the mines were closed, the town Weilburg added the first mining museum in Hessen to its already existing
