The Museum

The Ballenberg Open-Air Museum is located in the heart of Switzerland, nestled between the two beautiful holiday destinations of Haslital (Meiringen-Hasliberg) and Interlaken. The hilly museum grounds above Brienz are covered in forests and surrounded by a picturesque Alpine panorama.

Experience Switzerland - the open-air museum! 109 historic buildings from all parts of Switzerland, over 200 farm animals and old crafts: at Ballenberg you can discover Switzerland with all your senses.

For groups and school classes, Ballenberg offers guided tours, enjoyment and activity programmes that allow an in-depth insight into certain topics. What was it like to bake bread in those days? How did the farmers' wives manage to cook in the simply furnished kitchens? How much skill was required to carve a small wooden cow? Have a go yourself, try it out!

Parkplätze: Gebührenpflichtige Parkplätze gibt es bei beiden Eingängen West und Ost.Öffentlicher Verkehr:Bahnreisende fahren mit der Zentralbahn von Interlaken oder Luzern direkt nach Brienz oder auf den Brünig. Von den Bahnhöfen Brienz und Brünig fährt ein Linienbus zu den Eingängen Ballenberg West und Ballenberg Ost.Hunde:Hunde an der kurzen Leine dürfen gratis mit aufs Gelände.
