Interaktive Ausstellung erweckt das Mittelalter in Borna zum Leben

Das Museum der Stadt Borna ergründet vom 30.08.–19.11.2023 in der Sonderausstellung „Am Wasser entstanden… Borna im Mittelalter“ die Anfänge der Stadt. Neben historischem Wissen vermittelt die Sonderschau auch Geschichte zum Anfassen und Mitmachen.

Wasser, zentrales Element für alles Leben, steht dabei im Mittelpunkt. Denn das kostbare Nass der Wyhra und die dadurch geprägte Auenlandschaft waren die Grundlage für die Besiedlung Bornas im 10. und 11. Jahrhundert. Anhand archäologischer Funde zeigt die Ausstellung die ersten Siedlungsstellen und die sich daraus entwickelnden Dörfer Wenigborna und Altstadt-Borna. Spannend ist auch die Frage, wo die alte Wasserburg gestanden haben könnte, wie sie aussah und welche Funktion sie hatte. Darüber hinaus wird die Bedeutung des Wassers für das Leben der Menschen im Mittelalter beleuchtet: Brunnen, Mühlgräben und unterirdische Wasserleitungen sind hier zentrale Themen, die mit bis zu 1000 Jahre alten schwergewichtigen Ausstellungsstücken greifbar und anschaulich dargestellt werden.

Um Geschichte erlebbar(er) zu machen, setzt die Ausstellung auf interaktive Angebote. Wo standen zu welcher Zeit welche Gebäude? Wie funktioniert eigentlich eine Mühle mit ihren riesengroßen Mühlsteinen? Und wie kommt das Loch in eine Baumstamm-Wasserleitung? Auf spielerische Weise kann die Siedlungsgeschichte Bornas nachgebaut, eine Mühle in Schwung gebracht und der Bohrer angesetzt werden.
Und für all jene, die noch tiefer in das Thema der Forschung rund um Bornas Anfänge einsteigen möchten, hält die Sonderausstellung an den Objekten QR-Codes bereit.
