befindet sich zusammen mit dem Kulturhistorischen Museum in einem historischen Museumsbau an der Otto-von-Guericke-Straße in Magdeburg. Mit einer Sammlung von über 380.000 Objekten gehört es zu den größten naturkundlichen Museen in Sachsen-Anhalt.
Die Dauerausstellung wurde in den letzten Jahren komplett erneuert und bietet neben Präparaten, viele gestaltete und modellierte Lebensräume, die zur Entdeckungstour einladen. Den Besucher erwartet ein Fossiliensaal mit einem 6 m langen Dinosaurier, ein Zug der Tiere mit Großpräparaten von Giraffe, Afrikanischem Elefant und der Plastik eines 14 m langen Buckelwals.
Ein weiterer Schwerpunkt sind die Lebensräume Sachsen-Anhalts mit der Berglandschaft Harz, der Magdeburger Börde und der Flusslandschaft Elbe.

Guided Tours

Für Kinder- und Jugendgruppen bieten wir zu den einzelnen Ausstellungsthemen ein vielfältiges museumspädagogisches Begleitprogramm an. Die Angebote sind auf die jeweilige Altersstufe abgestimmt und können als Ergänzungsveranstaltungen zum Lehrplan genutzt werden. Abhängig vom Thema dauern die Veranstaltungen 1 bis 2 Stunden.

Der Eintritt für Kindergartengruppen und Schulklassen einschließlich der Betreuer ist frei. Die Führungsgebühr pro Gruppe beträgt 15 Euro. Veranstaltungen mit Kreativangebot werden 1 Euro Materialkosten erhoben.

Die Entdeckung einer aus dem Gletschereis ragenden Leiche im September 1991 in den Ötztaler Alpen im Grenzgebiet zwischen Österreich und Italien entwickelte sich von einem anfänglichen Kriminalfall zu einer wissenschaftlichen Sensation. Bei dem Fund handelt es sich um eine unversehrte mumifizierte Leiche aus der späten Steinzeit, die ca. 5250 Jahre im Gletschereis eingeschlossen war und unter dem Namen „Ötzi“ heute weithin bekannt ist. In der von Expo-Fauna Dieter Lucksch konzipierten Ausstellungen werden aufwendige Rekonstruktionen aller Funde einschließlich der Eismumie gezeigt. Die perfekte Erhaltung selbst organischer Materialien erlaubt der Archäologie gänzlich neue Einblicke in den Alltag der ausgehenden Steinzeit.
