Der Museumsberg Flensburg ist mit seinen zwei Häusern eines der größten Museen Schleswig-Holsteins. Das Hans-Christiansen-Haus zeigt schleswig-holsteinische Kunst des 19. bis 21. Jahrhunderts: vom Jugendstil mit Werken von Hans Christiansen bis hin zu Künstlern des Expressionismus wie Erich Heckel, Ernst Barlach, Emil Nolde und außerdem moderne zeitgenössische Kunst des Nordens.
Gleich nebenan im Heinrich-Sauermann-Haus sind Kunst- und Kulturgeschichte vom Mittelalter bis ins 19. Jahrhundert ausgestellt. Es gibt dort einzigartige originale Bauernstuben und die historische Möbelsammlung. Sie ist mit über 900 Stücken eine der umfangreichsten in Deutschland.
Spannende wechselnde Sonder-Ausstellungen machen den Museumsbesuch immer wieder zu einem Erlebnis.

Lena Kaapke untersucht die Welt unter eigenen Fragestellungen und nähert sich Dingen und den Menschen, die sie hergestellt haben. In der Ausstellung auf dem Museumsberg sind jene Arbeiten zu erleben, die nicht nur das Handgefertigte thematisieren, sondern auch ihre Herstellungsorte in China und Europa. Dabei geht die konzeptuelle Stringenz der Installationen Lena Kaapkes mit der hohen sinnlichen Präsenz ihrer Arbeiten Hand in Hand. Aktuell hat sich die Künstlerin auch mit der Sammlung unseres ursprünglich als Kunstgewerbemuseum gegründeten Flensburger Museums beschäftigt und die kunstvollen historischen Klöppelspitzen und ihre Herstellerinnen in den Mittelpunkt ihrer Arbeit gestellt.
