Das RadioMuseum Köln im Kölner Stadtteil Dellbrück zeigt die historische Entwicklung des Rundfunks. Interessierte Sammler fanden sich im Jahr 1999 zusammen und gründeten die Fördergesellschaft RadioMuseum Köln e.V. Sie beschlossen, gemeinsam ein Radiomuseum aufzubauen und es der Öffentlichkeit zugängig zu machen. In diesem Zusammenhang wollten sie den Besuchern nicht nur die verschiedenen Geräte vorstellen, sondern auch die Geschichte und Technik dazu aufzeigen und erklären. Den Anfang machen dabei Detektorempfänger, die bereits zu Beginn der 1920er-Jahre, als die Röhrentechnik noch in den Kinderschuhen steckte, das Hören über einen Sender möglich machten. Die Einstellung des Detektors war ausgesprochen schwierig. Man musste mit einer Federspitze auf dem in einem Glasröhrchen befindlichen Bleiglanz oder Eisenpyrit den richtigen Kontakt zum Empfangen des so genannten „Ortssenders“ finden. Mit einem Kopfhörer konnte man sodann das Gesendete hören. Es folgten Radios, die den Empfang mit Röhren ermöglichten. Zunächst fehlte ihnen ein Lautsprecher, so dass man zum Hören – wie bei den Detektoren – einen Kopfhörer benötigte. Das Radiomuseum macht die Entwicklung der Radiotechnik von den Anfängen bis in die heutige Zeit transparent. Es verfügt über eine große Auswahl der frühesten Geräte bis zu ausgefallenen modernen Transistorradios. Außerdem verfügt die Fördergesellschaft RadioMuseum Köln e.V. über die größte Grundig Taperecorder-Sammlung von Herrn Alard Roose (Mitglied im RadioMuseum Köln) aus den Niederlanden. Die Sammlung des Radiomuseums Köln umfasst rund 4.000 Exponate.
