DER RASTATTER KONGRESS (1797-1799) und sein Scheitern
Vortrag von Prof. Dr. Daniela Neri-Ultsch, München, am Donnerstag, 26. Januar 2023 um 18.00 Uhr in der Historischen Bibliothek im Ludwig-Wilhelm-Gymnasium, Lyzeumstr. 11, Rastatt

Die Historikerin Daniela Neri-Ultsch, Professorin am Lehrstuhl für Europäische Geschichte an der Universität Regensburg, referiert über die schwierige Verhandlungssituation während des Rastatter Kongresses. Der Friedensschluss in Rastatt sollte den ersten Koalitionskrieg zwischen Frankreich und dem Heiligen Römischen Reich beenden. Die Verhandlungsparteien legten die Abtretung des linken Rheinufers an Frankreich und die Entschädigung der betroffenen Reichsfürsten durch Säkularisationen fest. Im Widerspruch dazu forderte der Kaiser die Reichsdeputation auf, in Rastatt die Integrität des Reichsge¬bietes zu wahren. So stehen die Verhandlungen von Anfang an unter schwierigen Vorzeichen.
Wer welche Interessen mit welcher Strategie und Taktik vertrat, steht im Mittelpunkt des Vortrags. Der Kongress endete ohne Ergebnis, nahm aber wichtige Entscheidungen vorweg: die künftige Abtretung des linken Rheinufers und die Entschädigungen der weltlichen Reichsfürsten durch die Säkularisation. Damit besiegelte er das Ende des Alten Reiches.
