The future of travel #1: Connecting the point of interest with the point of sale
Suddenly the whole world has stopped spinning and everything gets questioned if it still works or is even necessary in an unknown future.
As always the future is hard to see but one thing is obvious to me in the travel industry:
The point of interest has to become a point of sale.
We see great pictures of a location, read something interesting about a place, on a website or in a magazine. So while we fancy going there we close the website/app or magazine, maybe bookmark it and that’s it - the point of interest is just this: a point of interest.
But this is not how the future will look like, it’s not that customers will furthermore accept the separation of content and offer - they demand it to be in one place, on one site.
That is why we at ViMuseo consider the 57,000 museums listed on ViMuseo to be 57,000 destinations.
And with reference to this understanding and our vision „The whole world of museums and how to get there“ I’ll outline why this is a foretaste of a fundamental change in the travel industry in a series of short articles, looking forward to receive feedback from other travel experts.
